Botulinum Toxin (Botox) Aftercare

This aftercare guide is part of our Botulinum Toxin treatment protocol.

Botox Aftercare | Prevention and Treatment of Possible Side Effects

Proper aftercare following Botox injection plays a crucial role in treatment success,
result longevity, and prevention of unwanted side effects. Most post-Botox concerns
are related not to the product itself, but to improper technique or lack of post-treatment care.
This page explains essential Botox aftercare guidelines and addresses common complications
along with evidence-based management options.

Essential Aftercare Instructions After Botox Injection

During the First 4 to 6 Hours

  • Avoid lying down or bending your head forward
  • Do not massage or apply pressure to the treated areas
  • Avoid unnecessary touching of the face

Within the First 24 Hours

  • Avoid intense physical activity and heavy exercise
  • Sauna, steam rooms, and hot baths are not recommended
  • Avoid alcohol consumption as it may affect results

During the Following Days

  • Avoid facial massage, deep facials, and heat-based devices
  • Mild redness, swelling, or bruising is usually temporary

Possible Side Effects After Botox Injection

Most Botox-related side effects are temporary and manageable when identified early
and treated appropriately.

Eyelid Ptosis (Droopy Eyelid) After Botox

Eyelid ptosis is a known complication that may occur when Botox diffuses into
the levator palpebrae muscle.

Early evaluation is important. In most cases, ptosis is temporary and can be managed
with supportive care and corrective techniques when needed.

Spock Brow (Excessive Eyebrow Elevation)

Uneven Botox distribution in the forehead may result in excessive lateral eyebrow elevation.

This condition is easily corrected with minimal-dose targeted injections.
Self-manipulation of the area is not recommended.

Double Vision (Diplopia) After Botox

Double vision is a rare but significant complication, usually caused by diffusion
of Botox into periocular muscles.

Immediate medical evaluation is recommended. Most cases are temporary
and resolve with proper management.

Facial Asymmetry After Botox

Mild asymmetry may be observed during the early days after treatment and can be normal.
Persistent or significant asymmetry requires professional assessment.

Correction is typically achieved through targeted low-dose Botox adjustments.

When Should You Seek Medical Evaluation?

  • Noticeable eyelid or eyebrow drooping
  • Double vision or visual disturbances
  • Significant or worsening facial asymmetry
  • Dissatisfaction with results after 10–14 days

Medical Management and Correction of Botox Complications

Most Botox complications are treatable when approached with proper anatomical knowledge
and individualized correction strategies. Accurate facial muscle assessment
is essential for successful outcomes.
